Evologie Review

As someone with problematic skin – I often have trouble finding face washes, moisturizers, masks and exfoliates that work well with my skin. Throughout high school, I suffered constant breakouts and was even left with some post acne scarring. Over the years, I have tried anything and everything on the market – I have found a few hidden gems along the last year or two, but not many.

One of the hidden gems is the skincare line from Evologie.

photo courtsey of Beautystat.com

Evologie was created by a father and is made with “a powerful blend of natural actives in patent-pending ys3 complex.” These products have been some of the most gentle and effective I have ever used.

Evologie is a 3 part system that combines everything you need into 3 simple steps.

  1. Stay Clear Cleanser ($35.00/5.0 oz) – The Stay Clear Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that is effective enough to wash away left over makeup residue, dirt and bacteria.  It is infused with all natural ingredients and “soothing botanicals” to leave the skin clean without the after effect of redness and burning, as some cleansers do.
  2. Intensive Blemish Serum ($35.00/0.5fl oz) – This serum is made with the YS3 complex, targeting pesky pimples as soon as it’s applied.  It gets the issue quickly, whether it be dirt, oil, bacteria, or a combo of all 3 and kills the root of the problem, before it gets too bad.
  3. Stay Clear Cream ($62.00/1.0 oz)  – This too is made with the YS3 complex.  It nourishes the skin and hydrates without leaving a greasy after feeling.  It softens skin, smooths and brightens, all while being gentle enough to be used any time of the day.

Here are some before and after photos, courtesy of Evologie.com It helps with inflammation, breakout occurrences and skin texture.

I used this 3 part system every day until the products were gone and this is how they worked for me:

*Stay Clear Cleanser – Wow! This is one of the best cleansers I have ever used.  It’s so gentle and cleans well enough that I used it both mornings in the shower and at night after removing my makeup.  Makeup removers never seem to take everything off my face and sometimes even after washing, I can still find traces of left over foundation.  Not with this.  After washing my face, I could see the leftover makeup and dirt, in the water, draining down the sink.  This cleanser did not burn or leave my face red afterwards.  It’s gentle and soothing and a little goes a long way.  One small pump will do enough to give you face a good cleansing.

*Intensive Blemish Serum – Over the years I have used spot treatment products who claim to kill off growing pimples before they get too bad.  While some of them did work, they would leave that part of my face dry and flaky or they would be too heavy that they could only be used at night.  What I loved about the Intensive Blemish Serum was that is was not too thick and not too thin – it was just the right consistency.  I could apply it to my breakout, let it dry and then proceed with my moisturizer and makeup routine. Within 24 hours my pimple would be gone or almost nearly gone, depending on the state of my breakout at that time.  I was really surprised at how fast this worked and how truly effective it was.

*Stay Clear Cream –  I was a bit hesitant to try this, as I am very picky when it comes to moisturizers.  My skin is super oily and sometimes moisturizers can be too heavy or make me extra oily (I do use a facial oil, toner, etc. My skin is not trying to make up for anything.  I am just naturally oily) so I have to be very choosy when it comes to moisturizers. This moisturizer is very nice, light and sinks in your skin without feeling greasy afterwards.  It took me a long time to get though the bottle, but it worked so well for my skin.  I could wear it alone or under any of my foundations and never had an issue.

If you’re tired of trying product after product without having any real results, I highly suggest looking into Evologie.  As someone who has suffered from acne their whole life, this is one of top 2 lines I have ever used.  If you’re not sure if this will work for you, you can buy a 3 step travel system here for $32.  It’s a good way to try before buying the full size and you will have travel size ones to take with you if you plan on travelling.  You can also purchase a full sized bundle (with a bonus full size cleanser and travel duo) here for $72, originally $149.00.

Evologie also offers a full refund (minus shipping costs), if you return your product (used or not) if you are unhappy with your results.  Also, right now they are offering free shipping on all orders.  This offer will only be available for a limited time.

Struggling with acne?  Why not give it a try.  The worst that can happen is that it doesn’t work for you (although I bet it does) and you get your money back.

What else do you have to lose?

Miracle Skin Transformer

A while back I talked about the amazing skin care line from Miracle Skin Transformer.  I still stand by my words and think Miracle Skin Transformer is one of the best skin care lines I have ever use.  As someone with super oily, acne prone skin and post acne scars, these products have delivered results I rarely ever see. (You can find that previous review here).

Today I wanted to talk about two of their cosmetic items I was sent for review.  I was super excited to be able to try these, as I have a little bit of an obsession with makeup.

The first product I want to talk about is their correcting coverage spf45.  With my oily skin and acne scars, it’s often difficult for me to find foundations/bb creams that give me the coverage I need, hold up to my oily skin, don’t clog pores or make me break out.

This correcting coverage spf 45 is a full coverage foundation that protects the skin while giving the coverage desired.  The benefits of this product claim to: “Protect, Firm, Hydrate, Contour and Smooth your skin in one application.”

I absolutely agree with this statement and was amazed at how well this product worked for me.

During the first use, I applied this with a damp beauty blender and was pretty happy with the results I saw.  I felt as though it was more of a medium coverage, but it did give me skin a healthy glow, it didn’t rub or melt of my oily skin and it also did not settle into pores or fine lines.

My skin looked nearly flawless.

With my second use of this foundation I used a brush instead of a beauty blender and I definitely saw a difference in coverage.  This was 100% full coverage with one layer.  This is a buildable foundation, but if you apply this with a brush, I highly doubt you will have to build up to get the coverage you desire.

Some foundations apply better with a beauty blender, others with a brush.  I definitely recommend using a brush with this foundation.  If you wan’t a little more of a sheer look, then using a beauty blender would likely work better.

It’s really all a matter of preference.

I wore this foundation for over 12 hours one day and I only had to powder my t-zone one time.  I was really amazed at the staying power of this foundation.  Like many other full coverage foundations, a little goes a long way and if you use too much I do think it will look cakey.  It’s best to start with just a small amount and add more if you feel you need it.

This foundation comes in three shades:  light, medium or tan and retails for $48.  You can purchase this from Miracle Skin Transformers official site or online at Ulta.

If you’re looking for a full coverage foundation, with protective properties and lasting power, I highly recommend this.  It pairs very well with their 5 in 1 tinted skin enhancer as a primer.

Another product that Miracle Skin Transformer recently released is their Lip Rewind Diving Shine Gloss.

If you have kept up with my reviews, you know that I am very picky about what I put on my lips.  Sometimes I feel as though glosses are way too sticky and too messy to bother with.

These glosses are formulated with vitamin E and shea butter to protect and nourish your lips all year round.

You can choose from two colors – Adore (a light nude with a golden shimmer) or Sublime (a dusty mauve), which are both lovely colors and I am a fan of both of them.

To retrieve product, you just twist the bottom to push out the product.  I love this way better than most squeeze tubes of glosses, it’s not a messy and you can choose the desired amount of product you’d like.

This gloss lasts for quite a few hours before needing to touch up and feels very light on the lips.  If you’re not into matte lipsticks or heavy color, this might be the right product for you.

These lip glosses retail for $20 each and can be purchase from the Miracle Skin Transformer official site or online at Ulta.

I give both of these products a 4.5 out of 5.  The only issue I see with these is the lack of color selection, but hopefully we will see more colors in the future.

If you’re interested in trying out either of these products or anything from the Miracle Transformer Line, now is the time to do so. You can find a full selection of products here on their website.

I received a CyberMonday deal to share with my readers and I would take advantage of this deal!

To receive a discount of 40% off your purchase of $50 or more, use the promo code CYBERMONDAY40 at checkout.

For more information, visit the Miracle Skin Transformer official site.  They do offer a return policy, if you are unhappy with your product.

Are you picking up anything this Monday with this deal?  I’d love to know or suggest a product that may be right for you.

Olga’s Organics Review

I often say I have enough oil on my face to kill the sea animals.  Don’t worry – I love the sea animals, but  I don’t love my skin.  Being such an oily mess often causes difficulties in finding products to work well for me.  I especially have a hard time with primers, foundations and powders.

Over the years I have tried hundreds of powders and have only found two that I absolutely love, but now I have a third to add to the mix.

Olga’s Organics loose face powder.

Let me start by saying I am not a huge fan of loose powders.  They tend to be messy and just don’t work for me most of the time but this one is totally different.

When Olga started this company, her vision was to create the first USDA Organic certified makeup on the market in the USA and that’s exactly what she did.  I must say that I love that there are only a handful of ingredients used to make this powder. You can find a full list of ingredients here.

Olga’s Organics loose face powder comes in 3 shades:  light, medium and translucent.  My skin tone is light/medium with yellow undertones and the light is perfect for me.  If you’re very fair, I would recommend the translucent, for I feel the light is a little darker than most of my ‘light’ powders.

I will be completely honest here – the first time I used this, I did not have high hopes.  Not because I did not think this company could make an amazing product, but because I have had so many negative experiences with powders in the past.

The first use – I used this to set one of my foundations that works really well with my oily skin.  The powder gave a beautiful finish and applied easily, it also had a wonderful aroma.  I wore it for about 10+ hours that day and by the end of the day my skin still looked great.

When I put the powder to the test for the second time, I used it with a foundation that doesn’t work as well with my oily skin and only holds up for a few hours.  Again,  I applied it and it gave a beautiful finish, although I thought to myself, meh, in a few hours it will probably all be melting off my face and I will be an oily mess.”

I was wrong.

As the hours passed, I kept checking my makeup in the mirror, no signs of shine and still a beautiful finish.  I even touched my t-zone with my fingers (I know this is bad, but it’s not a habit I have) to see if I had any oil coming through.  No oil and my skin felt smooth as silk.

No matter what foundation I have tried this with, primer or no primer,  I always have the same beautiful results.  I only need to apply it once a day, whereas some of my other favorite powders I may have to apply 2-3 times a day.  There have also been powders in the past that I have had to apply countless times throughout the day and it ends up leaving my face looking cakey.

No cake face with this powder.

I am not sure if it is one ingredient or a combination of all that keeps my makeup in place and the oil at bay, but this has trumped all my other powders and become a holy grail of mine.

I am also happy that this is not as messy as most other loose powders.  The sifter works well and you can turn it so you can block it off for when it’s not being used if you want to carry it around with you.

If you’re looking for a powder that keeps oil at bay, is free of harmful ingredients and leaves a beautiful finish – this is the powder for you.  A container of this retails for $32, which is the average price of high end powders.  This lasts longer than most of those do, so it is a great value for your money.

Along with the powder, Olga’s Organics also carries body butter in a variety of scents and a makeup brush.  I would love to see them launch a pressed powder or a medium to full cover liquid foundation.  Eyeshadows and other makeup essentials would be nice, but with the results of this facial product, I would love to see more of those from them.  I am sure those products would be an A+ too.

I can’t wait to see what Olga launches next!

Safesha Review

Money is disgusting.  It’s terribly dirty and carries all kinds of germs. As someone who works in the retail industry, I touch money a lot. I find that I am always washing and sanitizing my hands.

Sanitizing is the quicker way to go when I am in a hurry and don’t have time to run to wash my hands.  I find that sanitizers may be a quick fix, but they tend to be sticky, smelly and overly drying.

I wish they made hand sanitizers that moisturize,”  a co-worker once said to me. I immediately I agreed.  Little did I know such a product existed.

Safesha is the product.  A hand sanitizer derived from nature.

A while back I was contacted by Sylvia Andrews, who owns Safesha.  She has created a hand sanitizers that cleans the way it should, but also moisturizes at the same time.

Safesha differs from traditional hand sanitizers because it is infused with olive oil as one of the ingredients, while other ingredients are also all natural.

Safesha comes in 3 fl oz squeeze bottles, great for on go.  You can chose from unscented, lavender and sweet orange. I was sent all three scents from Sylvia for review.

Upon first use, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about these sanitizers.  After a few more uses, I realized I had fallen in love.  The consistency is a bit different than most sanitizers, I believe that is due to the olive oil.  It’s not as runny or thin as traditional hand sanitizers. The product thins out and you rub it into your hands and skin absorbs it easily.  If you have dry hands like myself, you will notice a difference within the first few uses.  It cleans while adding moisture without leaving a sticky residue behind.

I have been using these sanitizers multiple times a day, every day, since receiving.  I keep one with me at all times so I have it for work, on the go, and at home.  A few weeks ago we were without water for a few hours while road work was being done by our home, I used Safesha during those hours to keep my hands clean and germ free.

“Since essential oils have medicinal properties, I felt my audience would appreciate the inclusion of essential oils in the day/day use of a hand sanitizer.  It has been greatly received and it’s exciting, to say the least,”  said Sylvia.

I agree with this statement.  As someone who tends to get sick often (probably due to my job), I have not been sick, even with a cold.  This product really does work wonders and I believe the recipe of all natural ingredients is why.

When asked where the word Safesha came from, Sylvia replied, “The name Safesha is Swahili – which means – to cleanse or wash..hence Safesha cleanses your hands.”

Safesha cleanses your hands well and provides excellent results.  If you’re tired of the sticky, smelly, yucky after effects of traditional hand sanitizers I suggest you look into Safesha.  You will be happy you did.

For more information on Safesha, you can visit their website here or contact Sylvia at sales@safesha.com.  You can purchase Safesha on Amazon.com

The Body Buffet Review

I am sure we have all used a bath and body item that smells so good you would just like to taste it. Obviously, that wouldn’t be such a great idea but I am a sucker for items that smell like something I could easily sink my teeth into.

A few months ago, while searching for more natural options, I came across an Esty shop with a slogan of “where foodie meets beauty.” This shop is known as The Body Buffet. While browsing through the shop, I could not believe the selection of items (over 100) that were available for purchase. Since Esty shops are usually small business ran out ones home, often the selections are minimal. You can find a bit of everything at The Body Buffet; selections include hair care, facial care, foot care and more.

I reached out to Marquita, the owner and she was kind enough to send me a few products for review after asking about my skin type, allergies, etc. In my package I received a Cucumber Himalayan salt bar, Avocado facial soap, Chocolate covered cherry soap and a shampoo bar.

Cucumber Himalayan Salt Bar: Although I have dropped 180 pounds, I am still left with some cellulite. I often find it difficult to come across an item that I really love when it comes to exfoliating. I can easily say that this is one that I absolutely love. It’s gentle, yet does a great job at exfoliating. Sometimes the granules used in some products are a bit too harsh, but not this. It is recommended for use every other day and that is how I used it. Many people think salt mixed in with soap can be overly drying to your skin, but in fact “salt within soap doesn’t dry the skin but provides it with natural minerals.” After using this for a little over a week, my skin started to become softer, more even and it helped the appearance of my cellulite. The scent is soft but nice – cucumber melon, which I have always been a fan of. I have tried a few all natural salt bars over the last few months and I would say this would have to be my favorite.

Avocado Facial Soap – As someone with problematic skin, its sometimes a struggle to find things that work really well for me. I had terrible acne in high school, which has left me with some bad post acne scars. I swear I have the most oily skin ever and my skin still breaks out from time to time – it can be really frustrating. While I have changed to an all natural regimen, I have seen a huge difference in my skin, but some products my skin still hates. We all know avocados are beneficial to your body, loaded with healthy fats and nutrients but I have never seen them in a soap. This soap is geared towards oily skin, so I was super excited to test this soap out. When this bar was created, it was created so it would not be too drying to the skin but it would also keep the skin from feeling too oily. After one use, I couldn’t believe the difference. My skin was still oily, but not as oily as it had been in the past. In a little experiment I tried it for a few days, while the oil stayed more at bay, then I stopped for a few days and within that time frame, my skin became crazy oily again. Infused with grape seed oil, real avocado, cucumber juice, rose hip oil and shea butter, this soap is a must have for anyone dealing with combo to oily skin. It’s gentle, yet effective and will be a game changer in your skin care routine.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Soap – Ahh, this soap smells so good, I really just wanted to bite into it. I am not even joking when I say that – it smells better than any bath product I have ever owned over the years. This soap is designed for dry skin, the kind most of us see in the cooler months, but can be used at any time during the year. My fiance’ did more of the testing on this than I did. He is a chef, so he is in a hot kitchen for 10-14 hours a day and the numerous scolding hot showers he takes tends to dry his skin out. For him, it is difficult to find something that cleans off the grease (yes, gross I know) without drying his skin out even more. After one use of this, he was amazed at how well it cleaned without having to rewash himself 2-3 times. It did an excellent job at cleaning, yet moisturized at the same time. “I might just buy this soap by the case if that is an option.” he told me. I also found that it cleansed very well, although I don’t have dry skin very often. Even though I don’t suffer from dry skin, I really loved this soap too.

Shampoo bar – This was something new to me – I had never tried a shampoo bar before. As with my face, I have oily hair. Not as bad as when I was younger, but I need to shampoo every day because I am not a fan of dry shampoo. I get a lot of product buildup because I dry, straighten and hairspray my hair every day, this tends to leave my scalp feeling itchy from time to time as well. Directions are to: “Use daily on wet hair. Work up a lather directly in the hair or in the hands first then apply it to the hair. Please keep in mind that when transitioning from commercial shampoo to natural shampoo, your hair might appear to have build up that come from the fillers. Stick with it. Use apple cider vinegar rinses and dry shampoo to “detox” the hair.” I followed the directions and after one use, I could see a difference in my hair. It felt clean and moisturized, yet wasn’t looking very oily the next morning and my scalp itchiness went away as I continued use. I was really amazed by the results this bar gave me.

All of the products I was sent for review are definitely a win in my book. I really enjoyed all of these products and they worked extremely well; I have no complaints. You can shop for any of the aforementioned products here, or if you are looking for something else, browse around. There are over 100 items to chose from and you can find sample sizes of a lot of items to test out in case you’re not sure if its quite what you are looking for. All product pages come with directions, descriptions and ingredient and you can always contact the shop owner with any questions. There is a little something for everyone, including your pets!  They also offer international shipping.

Do yourself a favor and check out this shop, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Native Essence Botanicals Review

Did you know the best skin care products come from those that are the most unaltered? To get the best results, it’s always a good choice to use products that come from the most raw ingredients and straight to the bottle.

Native Essence Botanicals is one of those companies that strives to do that.

“One of the challenges in creating all natural botanical skin care products is in preserving a plant’s potency. This is of utmost importance when formulating a product with plants carrying therapeutic properties. In order to accomplish this, we pay careful attention in choosing ingredients that are raw or minimally processed. We give equal importance to maintaining freshness, minimizing heat exposure, and never using harsh chemicals. All of this ensures that when you receive one of our products, it will be fresh, potent, effective and safe for you and the environment.” -Native Essence website

Native Essence owner, Ryan, was kind enough to send me a few products for review.  I was sent the following items:

  • Regenerative Facial Serum
  • Lavender Hydrosol
  • Floral Cleansing Clay

Regenerative Facial Serum ($14.95/1oz) – This serum is excellent.  It is geared towards damaged skin – acne scars (that’s me), sun damage,  aged skin, etc.  If you skin type includes any of those, this is the serum you want from Native Essence. Infused with all natural oils including avocado oil, rosehip oil, vitamin E oil, carrot seed oil and more – the combination of all these oils will give you the maximum benefits in rejuvenating and healing you skin.  I used this morning and night after cleansing; I wore it under makeup during the day and it did not leave a greasy residue.  Over the few months I used this (shelf life runs about 6 months after first opening), I saw a dramatic decrease in the severity of my scars.  I highly recommend this to anyone with acne scarring. It’s fairly priced and I promise you will see results.

Lavender Hydrosol ($9.95/2 oz) – This hydrosol is quite amazing -it includes only 2 ingredients:  distilled water and organic lavender. It doesn’t get much better than that!   This can be used as a toner and can also be mixed in with the floral cleansing clay.  I used it both ways. It has a ph balance of 4.0 The PH scale ranges from 0-14, with 7 being neutral, so a ph of 4.0 is really good…this low number helps balance and tone your skin.  This hydrosol is best applied after cleansing and before moisturizer.  It comes in a spray bottle and 1-2 quick sprays is all you need.  Definitely one of the best toners I have ever used.

Floral Cleansing Clay ($8.95/10z) – Cleansing clays and grains are fairly new to me.  This was the first product of that type that I had ever used.  This can be used as a cleanser/skin polisher/gentle exfoliator or as a mask.  To use as a mask, mix a few drops of water (or activator of your choice), apply to face and let dry.  It is not overly drying, it doesn’t dry to the point that you have to scrub it off (a big reason I am not a fan of some masks) – it rinses of easily, leaving skin feeling refreshed and rid of toxins.  To use as a cleanser, mix with water as well, work into hands and wash face.  I am a big fan of this and I loved the scent.  A little goes a long way and a bottle will last a long time.

I am a huge fan of all 3 products I received for review.  Everything is made in small batches in Los Angeles and come as natural as it can get.  The prices on all Native Essence products are very affordable, as I know some all natural products can be higher in price, which can deter people from buying.  With each of these products, you get a ton of use out of one bottle, so it’s definitely a great deal.  Along with facial products, you can also purchase things such as toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm, lotion and soaps.

Native Essence products can be bought via their website or etsy store.  If you have any questions, you can contact Ryan and he will get back to you.

If you’ve been thinking of making the change to better products, Native Essence is a great company to start with.

Butter Elixir Review

As someone with extremely oily skin, I always thought it was best not to moisturize or use any type of oil on my skin. I feared it would only make me look even more of an oily mess. As I have gotten older and more educated on proper skin care, I have learned that this is not true.

Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to try many different types of facial oils. Some I have loved, some I have hated, and some have been just alright. In this review I want to talk about one that I loved.

Butter Elixir‘s hydrating facial oil for all skin types.

Butter Elixir is a company that is environmentally conscious, uses minimal packing materials, all which are BPA free. All of their products are 100% natural. They are free from preservatives, parabans, sulfates, phtalates, syntentic fragrances. Everything is vegan, cruelty free and non toxic. All products are made with the highest quality ingredients.

The hydrating facial oil is made from argan oil, rose hip oil, and apricot kernal oil . That’s it. 100% all natural. The directions read to apply 3 drops into clean palms and massage into skin.

Three drops was a little too much for me, so after a few tries, I opted for two drops which was the perfect amount for my skin. I used this both morning and night after cleansing and toner. My skin drank it all up and it left my skin feeling hydrated, but not oily or greasy. It’s not heavy and has no greasy after effect like some oils. Butter Elixir facial oil also smells wonderful.

After letting the oil settle into my skin, i followed with moisturizer, primer and foundation and it made no negative difference in my skin. I did find after continued use, it left my skin with a healthy glow. If you have drier skin, you could probably mix a drop of this with a thicker foundation for a more dewy look.

It took me close to 4 months to go through a whole bottle of this. My skin now seems to be LESS oily and more plum. I am constantly getting compliments on how much better my skin looks. I find myself reaching for light to medium coverage foundations now, as opposed to my full coverage ones. As someone who suffers from post acne scars, I can say that this has also helped the appearance of those. My fine lines in my forehead have disappeared and I no longer have dark bags under my eyes – but be careful to not get this into your eyes.

I am absolutely amazed at how well this product works and totally in love with it. I did some reading after I first started using it and found not one single bad review. If you are looking for an affordable, all natural skin care product, this could easily be your holy grail.

I can easily say that this is the best facial oil I have had the opportunity to try. One 1 oz bottle costs $48, which is a wonderful value, seeing as a little bit of this goes a long way and you will see amazing changes in your skin within the first few days of use.

If facial oil isn’t your thing, Butter Elixir also has other products for sale including lip butter, body and hair oil and more.  All products are good for men or women.

For more information on Butter Elixir, you can visit their about section here on their website.

I would give this product 5/5 stars and highly recommend giving it a try.  You will be amazed at the results.

Cleanlogic Review

Cleanlogic is a company that is geared towards bath and body accessories, made mostly from all natural materials.  Many of these accessories are aids in exfoliating.  Not only are these great little accessories but many of them are made as antimicrobial “scrubbories”, which kills “odor causing mold and bacteria” which can grow quickly on these types of accessories. These products will also last longer than the average bath accesories because of these antimicrobial additives.

I was sent a few products for review including:

  • large exfoliating body scrubber
  • exfoliating stretch bath and shower cloth
  • exfoliating stretch bath and shower gloves
  • small exfoliating body scrubber

I was pretty excited to try these because I am someone who likes to exfoliate on a pretty regular basis and I still struggle with some cellulite after losing 180+ pounds.

The first product I tried was the small exfoliating body scrubber.  It is about the size of a dish sponge when it comes to length, but a bit thicker.  I used it in the shower with some body wash and it did a great job of removing dead skin and making my skin feel silky smooth.  It lathers up any kind of body wash nicely and you can throw the body scrubber in the wash every few weeks.  Mine lasted over 4 months before having to toss it out.  The large exfoliating body scrubber is pretty the same thing, except larger. I find that better for use on larger areas of the body.

The exfoliating stretch bath and shower cloth was unlike anything I have ever tried.  It looks like a small towel and when you open it you think, how am i supposed to do anything with this?  It’s small but it stretches much larger (3 times the size of a regular wash cloth to be exact) than you would imagine, while still returning to actual size after use.  It it a bit more rough than the body scrubber, which I was a fan of.  It’s great for hard to reach spots like your back and is excellent at removing dead skin and increasing blood flow.

The exfoliating shower gloves were also a new experience for me.  When I took them out of the package, they looked incredibly small and I had no idea how my hands were going to fit in them.  They stretch like the bath cloth and my hands fit snugly inside. I would not say these are gentle, but for me they weren’t extremely rough, although I do not consider myself to have sensitive skin.  They were a little too rough on my face but they did an excellent job on exfoliating my arms and legs, which I used these with a coffee scrub.  My skin was glowing and incredibly soft. These gloves will last longer than any other bath glove on the market because of the antimicrobial additive.  These were my favorite of the products and I saw a big difference in the cellulite I have after just a few uses.

Along with the exfoliating products I was sent for review, Cleanlogic also offers regular shower sponges, sleep masks, eye masks, foot scrubbers, and more.  You can find a whole selection of their products from their website.  I have also seen their products in Weis, Shoprite and Tj Maxx.

One other thing I wanted to write about concerning this company is about  how they give back.

There is a non-profit organization called The Inspiration Foundation, which was started by Issac Shapiro, the CEO of Cleanlogic. This organization was started in honor of Issac’s mother who was been blind since she was seven.  Cleanlogic donates a portion of all sales to the Inspiration foundation to help the 25 million blind and visually impaired individual in the US who are unemployed.  Also, because of this functional Braille is placed on the packaging of over 50% of the Cleanlogic items, with plans to increase this on their products that are available.  I am always for supporting companies that give back to great causes like this.

If you’re looking for a great bath accessories that will help exfoliate to the maximum benefits and a product that will last a long time, I suggest checking out Cleanlogic.  Not only do their products deliver what is promised, they are also very affordable. I highly recommend this company!

R.L. Linden Review

R.L. Linden is a company run by two women by the name of Robin and Lynn.  Between the two of them, they have over 30 years of experience in “all natural skincare, innovative scents and therapeutic teas.”  I had heard a lot of great things about their products from a friend of mine and I was really curious.  Robin and Lynn were kind enough to send me some samples of the following products for review:

  • The Bee Charmer – Refining Cacao Honey Cleanser + Mask
  • La Balmba Rosa – Healing Rose Balm
  • Time After Time – Frankincense Restoring Serum
  • Close To Me – Uplifting Deodorant Spray
  • Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist – Hydrating Floral Toner
  • Your Eyes Only – Gentle Makeup Remover
  • Samples of their teas

So how did these products work out for me, you ask? Being there were only sample sizes, the opinions below are only based on using these products for a short amount of time.

The Bee Charmer: I was really curious about this and I have mixed feelings on it.  All in all, I think it’s a wonderful product and made a huge difference in my skin.  What I didn’t like so much about it (I didn’t HATE it) was that it’s very thick and sticky.  That’s to be expected being that is is made from real honey.  It works extremely well as a mask and it was pretty decent as a cleanser, you just need to get used to how different it is from your average cleanser/,mask.  Because this is made from honey, it will work wonders on your skin.  My skin is so soft after use. The Bee Charmer also exfoliates a bit because of the poppy seeds in it.  It is one of the top ten cleansers/masks I have ever used. ($24.00/2 oz)

Healing Rose Balm: As someone who is very picky about their lip products, I must say I love this one. So many are too thick or make my lips feel gross after a little bit of wear – but not this. The Healing Rose Balm is very moisturizing and adds a lovely shine to your lips.  I like to wear it alone or on top of certain lipsticks for an added shined.  It’s especially great for dry, cracked, flaky lips.  Not only can you use this as a lip balm but you can also use it for stubborn cuticles and dry skin. ($22.00/jar)

Time After Time:  Serums are something I have only gotten into the last year or so.  With someone who suffers from oily skin, it’s often hard to find the right one.  Sometimes they are a bit too heavy and my skin doesn’t like them.  My skin was a fan of this, though.  Direction read to apply a few drops to damp skin and night and massage into skin.  I didn’t get a ton of uses out of this since it was trial size, but I did see a slight different in my dry areas (the very few I have) and my acne scarring.  If you suffer from dry skin, you could also mix this in with your foundation for a dewy look. I tried this, but it didn’t work so well for me due to my oily skin.  ($42/0.5 oz)

Close to me:  This is a spray form of deodorant, which I have never been a huge fan of.  I also don’t care much for roller ball deodorant.  The idea for this was that it’s not only a deodorant for you, but you can “Spray on pits, bits, feet, yoga mat, shoes and anywhere that needs de-stinking!” With that said, I can see why it comes in a spray form.  And also, I have noticed some all natural deodorants sort of melt and get yucky at times or are difficult to apply, especially during the summer months.  I used this…and while it did a very good job as a deodorant, I was not fond of the scent and it didn’t work well with my body chemistry.  The R.L.  Linden website even suggests trying a sample size before purchasing the full size for the same reasons.  If there were different scent options, I would probably use a full size.  Great product, but not for me. ($15.00/bottle)

Thousand Petal Beautifying  Mist:  As someone who tries to keep a good skincare routine, I am very particular about toners.  This is absolutely  one of my favorites.  It’s a spritz toner, which I wasn’t sure about at first, but after using this (and some from others brands), I think I prefer it.  The scent and title comes from it being infused with many different flowers.  The scent is wonderful and the toner does a great job, while  leaves you skin feeling refreshed.  It did not dry my skin out and it did not leave a greasy feeling afterwards.  I used this both during the day after my shower and before applying makeup and at night after cleansing. I love, love, love this stuff!  Highly recommend! ($48.00/3.4oz)

Your Eyes Only – I wear makeup almost every day.  I wear waterproof mascara, full coverage foundation and a liquid eyeliner that does not ever want to budge.  It’s been difficult to find a good makeup remover that can tackle the heavy duty face I wear.  This stuff is amazing – a little bit goes a long way.  It’s suggested to apply to face and then remove with a damp cloth before cleansing.  This remover took most of my makeup off without having to scrub or go back again and go over my whole face.  I used some on a cotton pad to do my eyes separately and this is the only that I have found that will remove the liquid eyeliner I have been using.  I also highly recommend this. ($20.00/1oz)

All in all, I was a fan of all of these products in one way or another.  If you’re interested in buying any of these you can find them at the store on the R.L. Linden website and there is an option to buy the trial size set that comes with all of these.  Everything is all natural, cruelty free, hand crafted, palm oil free and good for all hair and skin types.

Grace and Stella Review

Subscription boxes and services are the big thing now. If you don’t know what they are,  I must ask if you have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years? Subscription boxes are month, bit monthly or quarterly boxes. With your purchase of a subscription, you pay for each billing cycle and you receive a box full of sample sizes and deluxe minis. You also may pay for full sized items depending on what you subscribe to. Beauty boxes are very popular but there are subscription boxes available for just about anything you can think of.

If you are a beauty lover I am sure you have heard of Ipsy, Birchbox, Sephora Play, Boxycharm, Petit V0our, Green Beauty Box and more. But have you heard of Grace & Stella?

Grace & Stella is a subscription plan where you pay $15.00 a month with free shipping and receive one item per month work $30-$50. You also have the option to do 1 month, 4 months, yearly or you can simply make a one time purchase. This service is a great mixture of makeup, skincare and hair care.

I was sent their Dead Sea Mud Mask for review. The first thing that excited me about this program was that everything is made from all natural and organic ingredients.

The Dead Sea Mud Mask is a facial mask that works for all types of skin issues, including acne scars which is a main concern of mine. The Grace and Stella website reads that benefits of the mud mask include:
•  Fights pimples and blackheads while fading acne scars
•  Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
•  Erases cellulite for smooth, beautiful skin
•  Minimizes pore size and improves overall complexion
•  Made with natural ingredients and is safe to use on face and body

I can vouch for all of these.

I use this mask 2-3 times a week.  The mask is on the thicker side but it’s not heavy feeling and rinses off easily in the shower.  I apply a semi-thick layer all over my face and let it dry over the next 5-10 minutes and then hop into the shower.  After using this on a constant basis over the last few months I have seen a huge difference in my skin.  My scars have faded a bit, the wrinkles in my forehead are barely noticeable and my pores are not as visible.

I also always have issues with my forehead when putting foundation on – even though I am oily, my foundation always seems spotty and blotchy when applying to my forehead.  After using this mask for a few weeks, that issue went away and has not returned.

Some of the ingredients used include aloe vera juice, sunflower oil, jojoba oil and hickory bark extract. The mask comes as 8.8 fl oz and costs $20 for a one time purchase (a $32.95 value) or you can subscribe and save and receive it for $12.75.

I am very picky with the masks I use, but I can say this is one of the best masks I have tried.

If you are looking for a mask full of befits and is not full of toxic chemicals, I highly recommend this mask from Grace and Stella.

Along with the dead sea mud mask, Grace and Stella also offers mascara, bath bombs, sugar scrub, hair masks and more.  You can see all available offers at the shop on their website.
